Firewall Zero Hour

Taktická střílečka 2018 First Contact Entertainment ⏱ Medium · ~3–10 h 🔞 18+

A tactical 4v4 shooter with no respawns; a single death ends the round for that player.

Firewall Zero Hour is a tactical multiplayer shooter designed specifically for PSVR and the Aim controller, in which two teams of four players face off in short, intense rounds – one team attacks and tries to hack a computer, the other defends it. Each round is one-shot and without respawns, so a single death means the end of a player's participation in that round, forcing players toward cautious advances, slow movement between cover, and careful listening for the footsteps and sounds of enemies hidden around the corner. The rifle-shaped Aim controller, which can be swapped for various models of long and short weapons, gives aiming a physical precision that standard Move controllers never offered, and became one of the main reasons the game felt so convincing.

Maps set in warehouses, office buildings, or city streets are designed with an emphasis on multiple access routes and hidden nooks, which encourages tactical play based on communication between teammates and correct positioning of forces. Technically, it was one of the most ambitious multiplayer shooters on the platform – the game had to handle synchronization of movement, aiming, and voice communication among four to eight players in real time, which places high demands on the VR hardware of the era. Audio plays a key role, since the spatial sound of footsteps and gunfire often decides who survives the first exchange of fire.

Firewall Zero Hour was received at launch as one of the most convincing proofs that a full-fledged competitive multiplayer could work in VR, provided it's supported by a quality peripheral controller. The game maintained an active player community after release thanks to regular updates and new maps, and it remains frequently cited as one of the best tactical experiences PSVR has to offer, even though its tense, slow pace isn't for everyone.

Why play: For players seeking a serious tactical multiplayer in VR with an active community and regular updates, even though the slow, tense pace suits more patient team players.
