Just Cause 4
Just Cause 4 sends agent Rico Rodriguez to the fictional South American country of Solís, ruled by a military dictatorship and the private army Black Hand. The player once again unleashes chaos using a grappling hook, parachute, and wingsuit, liberates regions from enemy control, and destroys everything from power plants to military bases with the series' signature exaggerated physics and explosions. The open world offers a mix of jungles, mountains, deserts, and villages that can be explored virtually without restriction from the very start of the game, and individual regions also differ in weather type and terrain, from snow-capped mountains through rainforests to parched deserts.
The fourth installment adds extreme weather to the series in the form of tornadoes, storms, and sandstorms, which can literally suck vehicles, buildings, and enemies into the air and become part of the player's tactics just like classic explosives. The grappling hook has also received modular attachments, so the player can assemble their own combinations of balloons, jet engines, and ropes and create their own makeshift machines and weapons on the fly, from simple parachutes to flying constructions bolted together from enemy vehicles. The level design remains built on freedom and improvisation, typical of previous entries in the series, and unlike them, the game also places greater emphasis on building rebel bases, from which attacks on surrounding regions can later be launched to expand the liberated territory across the entire map.
Why play it: The game is aimed primarily at players who, in an open world, are looking for pure fun with physics and destruction rather than a sophisticated story or tactical firefights. Anyone who enjoyed the chaos of previous entries in the series will especially appreciate the new tornadoes and the grappling hook building-block system, which offer even more room for absurd stunts and personal experiments with the game's physics engine, which has noticeably moved forward compared to previous entries in the series.
