An isometric adventure about Twinsen, who switches between a normal and an athletic mode.

Little Big Adventure is an action-adventure game by the French studio Adeline Software International, in which the player takes on the role of the young Twinsen, fighting against the totalitarian dictator Dr. FunFrock on the planet Twinsun. The game combines exploration of an isometric 3D world, puzzle-solving, item collecting, and simple action combat into one cohesive whole.

Twinsen can switch between several behavior modes — normal, athletic, aggressive, and discreet — which affects his movement and his options for interacting with the environment and enemies. The colorful, fairy-tale visual style contrasted with a darker story about totalitarian rule, giving the game a distinctive identity. On DOS systems, the game ran on its own engine combining polygonal characters with pre-rendered environmental elements, accompanied by the striking, still-beloved music of Philippe Vachey.

Little Big Adventure is today considered one of the most original European action-adventure games of the nineties, valued for its inventive world, humor, and gameplay. It ranks among the titles that age very well even after all these years thanks to its timeless visual style and thoughtful design, and many players recommend it as an ideal entry point into the genre for newcomers. The game was designed by Frédérick Raynal, who had previously worked on the Alone in the Dark series, and this experience is reflected in the elaborate atmosphere and cinematic storytelling, which in Little Big Adventure combines fairy-tale exaggeration with more serious themes of dictatorship and resistance. The combination of accessible controls, clear puzzles, and unforgettable visual stylization still makes it one of the most welcoming gateways into the world of nineties action-adventure games. The game was also released under the alternative title Relentless: Twinsen's Adventure in the North American market, which shows how publishers in the nineties often adjusted the marketing of European titles for different audiences without touching the essence of the game itself.
