Isometric action RPG for two; underrated.

Some games deserve far more attention than they ever received — and Arcus Odyssey is exactly this kind of quiet underdog in the Mega Drive library. An isometric action RPG that shines the moment you sit a second player down next to it.

The biggest draw is two-player co-op. You dive into the adventure together, choosing from four heroes with different combat styles and approaches to enemies, and make your way through levels from a bird's-eye isometric perspective. Combat is brisk, the action clear, and the shared adventure gives the game a completely different energy than playing solo.

Behind the game stands the studio Wolf Team, whose people later helped give birth to the famous Tales series. Even here you can see a feel for style and character — the visual side has its own expression and it all holds together at a pleasant pace.

Arcus Odyssey never belonged among the console's big names, and perhaps that is why it radiates the charm of discovery today. It is the type of title that collectors and enthusiasts know while the mainstream barely heard of it — and it brings all the more joy when you stumble upon it.

Why play: An underrated isometric action RPG with terrific two-player co-op — a hidden treasure for those who love hunting forgotten gems.
