Project Gotham Racing – obaly dílů série

Project Gotham Racing was developed by Bizarre Creations as a spiritual successor to Metropolis Street Racer on the Sega Dreamcast, and the first game, released in 2001, was one of the launch titles for the original Xbox. From the start the series stood out for its Kudos system, which rewarded not just speed but style — clean drifts, precise cornering and smooth gear changes all fed into the score alongside your finishing position.

The 2003 sequel, Project Gotham Racing 2, added more cities, changing weather and time of day, and motorcycles, expanding the roster of tracks around the world. Interestingly, Project Gotham Racing 2 also hid a bonus mini-game called Geometry Wars, which later broke off into its own successful shooter series. The third game, from 2005, launched alongside the Xbox 360 and delivered a major graphical leap with faithfully rendered cities such as New York and London, making it one of the most visually impressive racing games of its time. The fourth entry, released in 2007, further expanded the Kudos system and car roster and brought motorcycles back, and many players still consider PGR3 and PGR4 the series' peak for balancing an arcade feel with an emphasis on style.

The whole series stayed exclusive to Xbox and Xbox 360, and no further sequel followed the fourth game as Bizarre Creations moved on to other projects. Even so, Project Gotham Racing is still remembered as a title that showed a racing game could be about elegance behind the wheel just as much as about winning.
