Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies
Objection! The famous attorney Phoenix Wright returns to the courtroom and brings with him one of the darkest and most dramatic chapters of the entire series. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies is a visual novel that once again proves the search for truth can be just as thrilling as any action game.
The gameplay is split into two phases. In the investigation part you gather evidence, search crime scenes, and question suspects. In the trial phase you then cross-examine witnesses and look for contradictions in their testimonies in order to reveal the truth and clear innocent clients. Dual Destinies added new investigative abilities to the proven formula, among them the Mood Matrix of the young lawyer Athena Cykes, which allows you to analyze witnesses' emotions.
The Ace Attorney series was created by Shu Takumi and is developed by Capcom. Dual Destinies came out in 2013 and was the first full-fledged main installment of the series built with 3D character models instead of the previous 2D pixel graphics. In the West the game was released primarily through digital distribution, which was a bold step for the brand at the time.
Culturally, the Ace Attorney series is among the flagships of the visual novel and courtroom drama genre, and its charismatic characters have won a devoted audience all over the world. Dual Destinies pushed the storyline a step further and brought back to the game a tense, at times downright gloomy atmosphere.
The game is distinguished by dramaturgically elaborate cases that gradually intertwine into one larger story, and by the characteristic humor and absurdity that set the series apart from the competition.
Why play it: For lovers of stories, dialogue, and detective plots, Dual Destinies is a gripping courtroom thriller full of twists and unforgettable characters.
